HIRING IMMEDIATELY: Community Engagement Coordinator 🌿Job Summary: The Community Engagement Coordinator (The Coordinator) supports What Cheer Flower Farm (WCFF) by recruiting and overseeing the Farm and Floristry volunteers who are an integral part of our mission. These volunteers assist What Cheer Farm to grow and give away flowers to our network of partner organizations, which include hospitals, hospices, food pantries, senior services, and more. Part of the tasks of The Coordinator will be to cultivate and nurture our relationship to these critical partner organizations and help us to extend our reach into the community. The Community Engagement Coordinator works as part of a collaborative, responsive, all-hands-on-deck team with the The Farmer Florist Manager, The Seasonal Farmer, Junior Farmer, Floral Delivery Coordinator, and other Farm staff. The coordinator reports directly to the Farmer Florist Manager with support from the Executive Director and other staff. 🌷 Responsibilities: ▪ Build and maintain relationships and trust with program volunteers and partner organizations. ▪ Communicate with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and need for volunteers. ▪ Source and recruit volunteers to fit roles using a variety of outreach techniques and resources. ▪ Source and recruit partner organizations that represent The Farm’s vision and goals. ▪ Set up automated systems to gather information about volunteer skills, availability, and goals; match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data. ▪ Create systems to gather information about partner organizations’ needs, their delivery systems, and other information which will support organizational missions for both The Farm and our Partners. ▪ Schedule, coordinate, and assign volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individuals’ skills and goals. Also schedule and coordinate deliveries with and to partner organizations in collaboration with The Farm delivery team. ▪ Maintain files, records, applications, and other data concerning the volunteer and partner programs. ▪ Draft, maintain, and publish guidelines, best practices, and procedures for the volunteer and partner programs. ▪ Coordinate volunteer and partner recognition and appreciation events and activities. ▪ Work collaboratively as part of the What Cheer Farm team to support volunteers’ successful engagement with The Farm programs and partners. ▪ Perform other duties as required. 🌼 Qualifications: ▪ High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred. ▪ At least 2-3 years of demonstrated administrative experience, work with volunteers, and/or building relationships with community-based organizations. ▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills including email, phone, and in person. Cell phone communication will be expected. ▪ The ability and enthusiasm to work with people of varied cultures, abilities, and lifestyles, while also sharing knowledge with a positive and compassionate attitude. ▪ A desire to learn and be curious about partner organizations and those who are volunteering or visiting The Farm. ▪ Excellent time management, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. ▪ Ability to build trusting relationships with program volunteers and partner organizations. ▪ Ability to work creatively and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently. ▪ The personal temperament to be patient, a good listener, and tolerant while maintaining appropriate boundaries. ▪ Knowledge of and experience with computers, internet research, Google docs and sheets, the Microsoft suite of tools, and a willingness to learn new programs such as Airtable. ▪ A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required. ▪ Bilingual English-Spanish (preferred but not required) ▪ Flexibility, such to work during weekday(s) and on Saturdays (preferred) 💐Physical Requirements: ▪ Mix of walking, standing, and sitting. ▪ Ability to travel to site visits. ▪ Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. ▪ Prolonged sitting at a desk and working at a computer. 🌻Compensation: ▪ This is a part-time (20 hours) at-will salaried position with professional development opportunities and training. Salary range: $21,000.00 to $26,000.00, commensurate with experience. ▪ This position has potential to grow to a full time with the right candidate.
HIRING IMMEDIATELY: The Seasonal Farmer 🌿Job Summary: The Seasonal Farmer will be a part of working to increase annual production from 100,000 flowers to 300,000 flowers over the next three years. These grown stems supplement flowers gathered from supermarkets, event venues, and floral businesses which are repurposed by staff and volunteers into bouquets and arrangements for donation to our partner organizations. The Seasonal Farmer supports WCFF to live into our vision to collaborate with the floral industry to rescue flowers that might otherwise end up in the landfill. The Farm is committed to composting and recycling. The Seasonal Farmer works as part of a collaborative, responsive, all-hands-on-deck team with the Farm Florist Manager, Community Coordinator, Floral Delivery Coordinator, and other Farm staff. The Seasonal Farmer reports directly to the Farmer Florist Manager with support from the Executive Director. 🌏Responsibilities: ▪ Work under the direction of the Farmer Florist Manager alongside other farm staff to implement all aspects of the farm operations which include greenhouse and high tunnel work, field preparation, planting, irrigation, cultivation, harvest, and pest management. ▪ Work collaboratively (lead, direct and work alongside) volunteers who are an important part of WCFF programming success. WCFF supports volunteers from all walks of life and abilities. ▪ Perform other duties as required. 💐Qualifications: ▪ Two or more years of farming experience preferred and/or related work history. ▪ Interest in and/or experience with no-till farming practices. ▪ Ability to work with members of the farm team as well as independently. ▪ Enthusiasm for working with volunteer groups of all abilities and backgrounds. ▪ Commitment to supporting a working environment that promotes the sharing of knowledge, positivity, compassion, as well as a desire to learn and be curious. ▪ Excellent communication & listening skills. ▪ Exceptional work ethic and reliability. ▪ Frequent cell phone contact/communication expected. ▪ A valid driver’s license (preferred, not required) ▪ Reliable means of transportation. WCFF is located close to public transportation. ▪ Bilingual English and Spanish (preferred, not required) ▪ Flexibility to work during weekday(s) and on Saturdays (preferred) 🌱Physical Requirements: ▪ Mix of walking, standing, bending, and sitting. ▪ Must be able to lift up to 30-50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks. ▪ Must be prepared to work outside in all types of weather conditions. 🪴Compensation: ▪ This is a part-time seasonal position – April 2023 to November 2023. Hourly wage range: $15.00 to $20.00 depending on experience. ▪ This position will be filled based on the applicant’s qualifications and availability. ▪ We are looking for individuals who are willing to commit to working early mornings and understand the physical nature of the work being expected of them.
